During our Classic Service, you’ll enjoy timeless hymns and classic worship songs led by our choir, orchestra and organ. Service also features times of prayer and a Bible-based message that applies to everyday life. Dress up or come comfortably casual. There are friendly faces and an open seat waiting for you in our Classic Service.
10:30 AM - Contemporary Service

Our Contemporary Service is led by our worship band and features creative elements that help you engage in worship in an exciting way. Service includes times of prayer and a Bible-based message that applies to everyday life. Come as you are, wear what feels right to you, and get ready to worship God with a community that is glad you’re here.

What kind of church is First Free Rockford?
First Free Rockford is a place where you are loved and welcome! We have been a church in the community of Rockford, IL since 1884 and our heart is to see all generations go, tell, and show the love of God.
Where is First Free Rockford located?
Our address is 2223 N. Mulford Rd, Rockford IL 61107. Located on the South-East corner of Spring Creek and Mulford, our campus is pretty easy to spot and you can enter from either Spring Creek or Mulford. If it’s your first time visiting we suggest you park near the bell tower and head in through the Main Entrance. If you have kids, and are looking for the shortest path to our Kids Lobby, park and enter our West Entrance facing Mulford Rd. It is the closest entrance to the Kids Lobby where one of our volunteers will help your kids check in, and show you around.
What should I wear?
Most people dress casually when they attend a service — t-shirt and jeans, khakis and a polo, dresses or shorts, or “suit-up” if that’s what you prefer, but you are welcome to wear whatever you’d like!
Where do I go after I arrive?
If this is your first time visiting, we recommend entering the church through the Main Entrance (near the bell tower) where you can let one of our greeters know it’s your first Sunday at First Free. They are there to help you find everything you need. If you’re the reserved type and just want to check things out on your own, most people grab a donut and coffee and mingle in the lobby before making their way into the Sanctuary for worship. If you are bringing your kids with you and want to check out First Free Kids, make your way to the Kids Lobby by the West Entrance (faces Mulford Rd.) and one our of volunteers will be glad to get your family checked in and show you around.
How long does a worship service last?
Our worship services last approximately 75 minutes. The teaching portion of the service is typically 35-40 minutes and the rest of the time consists of singing worship songs and prayer. Every second Sunday of the month we take communion together as a church.
What about my kids and/or teenagers?
We are a multi-generational church that loves to worship together. Kids and students are always welcome in our main worship services on Sundays. However, we also know that many kids need a place to move and engage in church in a more interactive and age-appropriate way. First Free Kids offers programs for kids from birth through 5th grade and meets during the 10:30AM service. All First Free Kids programs are fun, safe, age-appropriate, and led by trained and background checked volunteers. When you arrive at First Free, greeters are available to guide you to our Kids Lobby and check-in area. If you plan to attend our 8:30AM service, we do have First Free Kids for birth through 3rd grade, but you will find most families with young children attend our 10:30AM service.
