Closer Women’s Retreat 2020

Jesus invites us to an intimate relationship with our heavenly Father through the Holy Spirit.

Our response is requested.

Draw near to God.
Delight in his creation and the beauty of fall.
Discover community with several generations of women.
Find space for worship: through gathering together, through music, through prayer and through quiet solitude.
Rest and be replenished.

All women ages 18 and over are welcome. Retreat on your own, with a friend, or with women from your life group, adult community or Bible study.

Various homes in Rockford area hosting small groups

Dates:
6:30–9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13
9–11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14
No overnight.

Pricing:
$15 – Registration closes midnight Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Who: All ages encouraged, but no youth programming at this time.
How do I register? Click on the registration button below.
Streaming: Along with the indoor gathering, we will continue to stream both the Classic (8:30 a.m.) and Contemporary Worship (10:30 a.m.) services online every Sunday as usual.

Guidelines (Phase 1):

  • Registration for the Sunday morning service will close at 11:59 p.m. Saturday. If you are unable to register online, call the church office at 815-877-7046 from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday–Friday for assistance. No office assistance available on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • All ages are encouraged to attend, but there will be no other activities or ministries provided during the worship service until Phase 3.
  • We will follow CDC guidelines for face coverings and social distancing. Face coverings will be required at all times while in the building.
  • A household can sit together with three empty seats between them and the next household. There will be two empty rows between each occupied row. Seat yourself by starting with the first open spot near the front moving back.
  • The balcony will be opened if needed. The overflow rooms on the main floor will not be used, because of ventilation issues.
  • Offerings will be received online, by texting, mail, or dropped into a provided container on the way out of the worship service.
  • Attendees should dismiss starting with the rear seats and moving forward. Please do not congregate in the lobby or halls.
  • Restroom will be open with only two people allowed in at a time.

We are happy to offer an outdoor Sunday service at Summerwood Amphitheater called Summerwood Sundays. The single worship service will last about an hour and will replace the Wednesday evening gatherings. All streaming options remain available as well.

In order to attend, you need to pre-register by clicking the registration button below. Registration opens at 9 a.m. Mondays and closes at midnight Saturday for the following Sunday morning. Capacity is limited to 350 people, with social distancing required. See the full list of guidelines below.

Who: All ages, limited to 350 pre-registered people

Streaming: Along with the live Summerwood gathering, we will continue to stream both the Classic (8:30 a.m.) and Contemporary Worship (10:30 a.m.) services online every Sunday as usual.

Guidelines:

  • We will sit on the lawn or in Summerwood seats, in groups of 10 or fewer from same household. The lawn will be marked with spray paint in 8-foot circles with 8 feet between all circles. You also may bring lawn chairs and/or a blanket to sit on.
  • Social distancing is required. Masks are optional.
  • Everyone must enter through the main Summerwood entrance. An accessible entrance will be open for those with special mobility needs.
  • Summerwood restrooms will be available. Limit one person at a time.
  • No childcare will be available. Children must remain seated with their families.
  • No food and drink. Water bottles are allowed.
  • No physical contact such as handshakes, hugs, fist bumps, etc.
  • The event will be canceled if inclement weather occurs. Notification will go out by email and on our website. If unexpected weather occurs during the event, attendees will need to exit immediately.
