Life Groups Fall Launch

Life Groups meet in homes to discuss Scripture, build friendships and share life and faith together. We believe this is the best environment to develop deeper relationships with God and others, and to grow spiritually in community. New groups launch the week of October 4.

During this unusual season, First Free Rockford remains committed to helping our church family grow together in biblical community. In June, we will offer a special, virtual Life Group where we’ll take a deeper dive into each week’s sermon. This group is free and open to anyone. Especially if you are not part of another Life Group, we encourage you to give this one a try!

When: 7 p.m. for four consecutive Tuesdays: June 2, 9, 16 and 23.
Where: Zoom (virtual meeting app; link will be sent after registration)

Community and understanding thrive in this unusual Life Group

Newly married and living in a Rockford neighborhood, Brennan and Jade Hailey knew what they were looking for: Close-knit community. Accountability. A chance to learn and grow. A chance to extend the love of Jesus to others, and to work past our culture’s stereotypes about Christians.

But they were having trouble finding all that, especially with people their own age (late 20s). First Free’s Life Groups were fine and all, but what else might they try?

So they thought: We have friends who go to different churches. We have other friends who don’t consider themselves Christians. We know them all pretty well. What if we invited everyone to hang out at our house and talk about faith together?

So they started inviting people. This would mean foregoing a regular life group with church friends to do something that felt a little riskier. Brennan and Jade saw the decision not as sacrifice, but as opportunity cost.

What does Life in Community look like? Chad and Megan Clauson’s Life Group started when most of them were part of First Free’s young adults ministry, Rooted. Now that members’ lives have taken different paths, the group still sticks close.

Life Groups Celebration 2019

Enjoy an evening of stories, food, and fellowship at our first ever Life Groups Celebration on Thursday, August 8 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Aldeen Golf Club pavilion. We will spend time worshipping together, hearing from God’s word, and celebrating all God has done through Life Groups this past year. Tickets are $10 per person (adults only).
