Prayer – Part 1
Praise & Thanksgiving

Psalm 33 (CSB)

1 Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous ones;
praise from the upright is beautiful.
2 Praise the LORD with the lyre;
make music to him with a ten-stringed harp.
3 Sing a new song to him;
play skillfully on the strings, with a joyful shout.
4 For the word of the LORD is right,
and all his work is trustworthy.
5 He loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of the LORD’s unfailing love.
6 The heavens were made by the word of the LORD,
and all the stars, by the breath of his mouth.
7 He gathers the water of the sea into a heap;[a]
he puts the depths into storehouses.
8 Let the whole earth fear the LORD;
let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
9 For he spoke, and it came into being;
he commanded, and it came into existence.
10 The LORD frustrates the counsel of the nations;
he thwarts the plans of the peoples.
11 The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
the plans of his heart from generation to generation.
12 Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD—
the people he has chosen to be his own possession!
13 The LORD looks down from heaven;
he observes everyone.
14 He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth
from his dwelling place.
15 He forms the hearts of them all;
he considers all their works.
16 A king is not saved by a large army;
a warrior will not be rescued by great strength.
17 The horse is a false hope for safety;
it provides no escape by its great power.
18 But look, the LORD keeps his eye on those who fear him—
those who depend on his faithful love
19 to rescue them from death
and to keep them alive in famine.
20 We wait for the LORD;
he is our help and shield.
21 For our hearts rejoice in him
because we trust in his holy name.
22 May your faithful love rest on us, LORD,
for we put our hope in you.

Spend time in prayer thanking God for:

• His Word
• His faithfulness
• His creation
• That His eyes are always upon us – we are never alone!
• The hope we have in Him

PRAYER – PART 2
CONFESSION

Psalm 51:1-12

1 Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy in gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity.
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Spend time in confession to God for:

• Our sins that we are aware of.
• Our sins that we unknowingly have committed.
• The way we as a nation have turned away from you.
• Our spiritual slumber as a nation.
• The ways we have broken your heart.
• The ways we have missed the mark in standing united as brothers and sisters, no matter what ethnicity we hold.
• The ways in which we have grieved you.

ONLY A HOLY GOD

What other power can raise the dead
What other name remains undefeated

PRAYER – PART 3
PETITION

Colossians 1:9-14 (ESV)

9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. 11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who as qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

As Paul prayed for the church in Colossae, pray for your fellow believers:

• That we may know God’s will, understand God’s will and apply it to our lives with wisdom
o God’s will for ourselves, our families, our church and our country
• That we may “walk in a manner worthy of the Lord” –
o To be “fully pleasing” to Him
o To be a light to our communities
o That we may bear fruit
• That we may have an increasing knowledge of God
o Being intentional in our study of God’s word
o Then sharing that knowledge with others
• That we would be “strengthened with God’s power” for the purpose of endurance and patience
o Especially as it relates to the Covid-19 pandemic
o And the current racial tension in our nation
• That we would give thanks to the Father
o For our salvation
o For our deliverance from the domain of darkness to the kingdom of His son
o For our redemption
o For the forgiveness of our sins

HIS MERCY IS MORE

Chorus
Praise the Lord His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness new every morn
Our sins they are many His mercy is more
Verse 1
What love could remember no wrongs we have done
Omniscient all knowing He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many His mercy is more
Chorus
Praise the Lord His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness new every morn
Our sins they are many His mercy is more
Verse 2
What patience would wait as we constantly roam
What Father so tender is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest the vilest the poor
Our sins they are many His mercy is more
Chorus
Praise the Lord His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness new every morn
Our sins they are many His mercy is more
Verse 3
What riches of kindness He lavished on us
His blood was the payment His life was the cost
We stood ‘neath a debt we could never afford
Our sins they are many His mercy is more
Chorus
Praise the Lord His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness new every morn
Our sins they are many His mercy is more
Chorus
Praise the Lord His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness new every morn
Our sins they are many His mercy is more
