Dear First Free Family:
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, we have prayerfully decided to suspend all of First Free Rockford’s public gatherings on our main campus (2223 N. Mulford Road), Fairhaven Venue (3470 N. Alpine Road), and Mission Venue (715 W. State Street) until further notice. This includes:
- All worship services
- All daytime and evening classes, programs and events
Our main office will also be closed until further notice as of Friday, Mar. 20 following the stay-at-home order from the Governor’s office.
Our senior leadership team has taken this unprecedented step out of love and concern for our church family and our community, to reduce risk during this global crisis. We are monitoring the situation closely and will follow the lead of local, state and national health officials in determining next steps.
In the meantime, we urge our church family to:
Pray. Ask God to bring about an end to the spreading of this disease, and to protect our community and our world. You can also use our Coronavirus Prayer Guide.
Worship with us online. On Sunday morning, we will livestream two services: Classic at 8:30 and Contemporary at 10:30. The service also will be available for playback starting later that day. You can find sermons online through the livestream at firstfreerockford.org, Facebook livestream, and the First Free Rockford apps for Google, Android and Apple devices.
Serve. Many in our community are frightened, angry or confused. We as Christ’s church can be agents of calmness, peace and reason. Please check on your neighbors, especially the elderly. If someone is in need, share what you have.
Life Groups: Due to the recent stay-at-home order, Life Groups should not be meeting in person. Options to meet digitally are encouraged through services such as Zoom, Skype, FaceTime or Google Hangouts.
Chapel: Our chapel is no longer open for prayer until further notice.
Giving: Many in our congregation already give their gifts and offerings through electronic means. If you would like to give online, you can do so here. Or, drop it by the church office. There is a drop-off slot next to the main entrance doors.
Church office: The office is closed until further notice.
Fairhaven Venue: The regular Sunday worship service at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center is suspended until further notice. Note that Fairhaven is currently closed to outside visitors.
Mission Venue: The regular Sunday service at Rockford Rescue Mission is suspended until further notice.
Next steps: We will post all new information at firstfreerockford.org, and also email, Facebook and Instagram. If you are not already receiving our weekly church emails, please visit the website and click “Subscribe” at the bottom of the homepage. You can also call the church at 815-877-7046.
