Trunk or Treat 2018

Event Info

First Free Rockford is excited to host Trunk or Treat at Whitehead Elementary School on Saturday, October 27 from 4-7pm.  Trunk-or-Treat is a safe, fun community event where kids can dress up and get candy with their friends and family. Volunteers are needed for the entire event, including decorating tables, handing out candy, dressing up as characters, and more!  This is a great way to serve together in our community. Sign up today at firstfreerockford.org or at the Connection Center in the Main Lobby.

  • Position Descriptions

  • Trunks/Table Hosts

Volunteering to be one our Trunks means we give you an 8-foot table along the parade route for you to decorate anyway you like during the hours before start time (kid-appropriate and not scary). You then get the privilege of greeting each and every child with a piece of candy. (We will provide candy, unless you want something special to fit your theme.)

If you would like to hand out candy, but don’t have the time or resources to decorate your own table, please let us know. We may be able to provide the decorations and table dressing for a limited number of tables. We might also pair you with someone who needs company at their table for the 3-hour event.

    Character Actors

Put on a costume and convince the kids that you are their favorite characters. Sign autographs, take pictures with families, and if the line gets long some characters will serve as outside entertainment.

    Character helpers

We have several costumed characters which will require a helper to make sure they don’t trip or run into anything while moving about the event space. The character helper’s main concern is with the well-being of the person inside the costume, along with making sure the kid’s interactions with the characters stays positive.

    Line Supervisors/Counters

Maintain hospitality to our guests and direct them in an orderly manner. Count every person who enters through the line.

There will be 40+tables to setup and tear down. Other setup includes décor, directional signage, etc. Cleanup will include trash removal, un-decorating, etc.

    Volunteer Care

Make sure volunteers are well cared for, have water, are able to take restroom breaks, etc.
