Parent/child dedication is a way for parents to declare their own commitment to raise their children in a home where God is the center. We host dedications during our Sunday morning services several times a year. (See below to register and review frequently asked questions.)
How often do Child Dedications take place?
The Child Dedications occur 3 times a year in the Sanctuary at First Free Rockford during the 8:30am and 10:30am services.
How long is the ceremony?
The Child Dedication service is at the beginning of our worship service and lasts about 5-10 minutes.
Who should I invite to the ceremony?
Please invite family, friends, and neighbors. This is to be a celebration of the commitment you are making and we want your loved ones to be able to share in the experience.
Is there a class I need to take?
Yes, there is a required parent class. The Parent Child Dedication class is the week before the Dedication service. Completing the online registration form will register you for both the ceremony and the parent class.
What should we wear to the ceremony?
There is no dress code. We have seen everything from dresses to jeans for adults. As for the child being dedicated – we’ve seen everything from elaborate dresses to clip-on ties.
