With the election less than three weeks away, let’s value unity above unanimity. Please join us in prayer. Here’s a prayer guide from pastors Luke Uran and Chuck Rife.

Election Prayer Guide 2020
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
–2 Chronicles 7:14
Scriptural Guide for Prayer
Thanksgiving—If my people humble themselves…
“6 Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.”
“9 Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.
–Psalm 95:6,7; 96:9
Give praise and thanksgiving to God for himself. Keep your prayer focused on and toward God, not on yourselves at this juncture.
Confession—Turn from our wicked ways…
6 Let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s family, have committed against you. 7 We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.
–Nehemiah 1:6-7
Confess the spiritual state of the North American Church and our part in the gross sin of our nation. (1) Share together what you think these sins are by name, and then, (2) confess each one before the Lord in prayer, accepting them as your own.
Petition—Pray and seek my face…
“6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” “18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.”
–Philippians 4:6; Ephesians 6:18
Pray for all levels of the coming election: presidential, national senators and representatives; governors and state senators and representatives; county races; mayors and council members; judges, state and local referendums. Pray for accurate, orderly and peaceful election results.
Confidence—Then I will hear from heaven…
“14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” “7 Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.”
–1 John 5:14,15; Jeremiah 17:7
Give thanks to the Lord for hearing our prayer. Pray for our newly elected or re-elected political leaders, and ask God to be present and active in their lives and leadership. Pray for healing and rest as a nation and as a Church. Pray that we place our ultimate trust and confidence in the Lord.
