COVID-19 updates

Worship Services

Live (in-person): Starting Sunday, Nov. 15, we return to having two indoor worship services on Sunday mornings in the Auditorium: Classic Worship at 8:30 and Contemporary at 10:30.

Thursday evening worship services will continue through Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. The Nov. 19 service will be the final Thursday service for now.

Registration is required for all live worship services, so that we are able to stay within our safe capacity. You can register by visiting our web calendar, or call the church office at 815-877-7046, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday

Face coverings and social distancing are required. No childcare is available yet during worship services. We hope to offer this again soon.

Online (livestream/on-demand): We will continue to live stream both our Classic and Contemporary services each Sunday morning. You can find the services online at firstfreerockford.org, Facebook or YouTube. Services are also available through the First Free Rockford apps for Google, Android and Apple devices.

Communion: Share communion at home by yourself or with your family. Have bread and juice ready and watch this video as one of our pastors leads. We will provide this online opportunity monthly until safety guidelines allow us to host communion in-person again.

Other Venues

Other First Free Rockford worship venues remain closed because of COVID-19. These include:

  • Chapel Venue at our main campus – 2223 N. Mulford Road
  • Fairhaven Venue – 3470 N. Alpine Road

Stay Connected

Our senior leadership team is monitoring the situation closely and will follow the lead of local, state and national health officials in determining next steps. During the pandemic, we encourage our church family to:

Grow. Life Groups are encouraged to meet in-person within the current safety guidelines. Life Groups can also stay connected digitally through services such as ZoomSkypeFaceTime or Google Meet. Many Life Groups use the teaching resources found on RightNow Media, which also has resources for individuals and families to aid in spiritual growth.

Serve. Many in our community and congregation continue to be frightened, angry or confused. We as Christ’s church can be agents of calmness, peace and reason. Please check on your neighbors and church family, especially the elderly. If someone is in need, share what you have. Always practice safety under local and state guidelines.

Pray. Ask God to end this disease, and to protect our community and our world. You can also use our Coronavirus Prayer Guide.

Give. Many in our congregation already give their gifts and offerings through electronic means. If you would like to give online, you can do so here. We also can receive checks in the mail at 2223 N. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61107.

Be watchful. We will post all new information at firstfreerockford.org, and also email, Facebook and Instagram. If you are not already receiving our weekly church emails, scroll to the bottom of this page and click “Subscribe.” You can also call the church at 815-877-7046.
