Gentle Giraffe Room: 3 to 3-1/2 year olds

Welcome to the Gentle Giraffe Room!

Head Teacher: Amie Andre
Assistant Teachers: Sarah Piper and Vanessa Kerno

... Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
– Matthew 19:14

Jesus knows how precious and valuable your children are. And because He has told us this, we Giraffe teachers also tremendously value your children. We know God has huge plans for your kids, and we want Him to use us to help them fulfill those plans.

In the Giraffe room we strive to provide a warm, supportive beginning to your child's social interaction and skill development. Our curriculum is based on the active learning philosophy. Each day your child will participate in activities that encourage the development of language, social interaction, pre-academics, and moral/spiritual values through play, crafts, games, music, stories, and more.

SPRING 2010 UPDATE: The following is our daily schedule for the rest of the year. The schedule remains flexible to accommodate special visitors, activities, and events.

Each day’s activities continue to revolve around a unifying theme derived from our Bible story. This theme is incorporated into our exploration of fine arts, pre-science, pre-reading, pre-math, language, and classical music, as well as traditional preschool activities and lots of silliness!

There are many special activities in the Spring Semester. We have Pajama Day, Winter Festival, Valentine’s Party, Special Visitor Day, Spring Fling, Ice Cream Social, Beach Day, Fun Fair, and some special Bible character visits. Watch your newsletters for these dates and additional information.

Don’t forget to make sure the extra set of clothes you pack in your child’s school bag are weather appropriate as the seasons change. Remember to include socks.

As sandal weather approaches, keep in mind the days we’ll attend the indoor playground. Socks must be worn while in the playground. It’s easiest for everyone if you send your child wearing socks on those days. Playground dates are listed in your newsletter and a reminder is posted a few days in advance in front of our "Giraffe Parent Spot" bulletin board over the lunch box cubbies.

Continue to dress your children in potty-friendly clothing. We’re doing pretty well using the bathrooms independently, but every once in a while an outfit causes us some trouble in redressing ourselves. Remember to avoid overalls, jumpers, body suits/leotards (tights are okay) and tight or difficult belts.

We hope you are as pleased with this year as we are! This is a great group of kids! We love spending time with your children and teaching them about the special love God has for each of them! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child’s early education.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Teacher Amie at unoppressed1@comcast.net.

Enjoying a great year with your kids,
Teachers Amie, Sarah, and Vanessa
